North Kessock plan in drive to build more affordable homes
2nd March 2009
Tulloch Homes hope to build 160 houses and apartments this year for the hard-pressed affordable homes sector.
They have lodged a planning application for 18 affordable homes at North Kessock, a mix of apartments and bungalows, all two bedroom and if consent is given, they hope to start in June with completion in spring 2010.
The affordable homes are the forerunner for a private development of 160 homes by Tulloch at North Kessock, for which outline consent is in place.
Andrew MacMaster, who heads up Tulloch Homes Express, the affordable division of Tulloch Homes, said:"We are also hoping to build this year at two Inverness locations, Milton of Leys and Slackmarnock, plus Muir of Ord, Conon Bridge and Fortrose.
"Good progress is being made and we know how much growing pressure there is from families for affordable homes. We're certainly leading the way in the Highlands and by the end of the year we should be closing in on the 500 home mark since Tulloch Homes Express was established five years ago."
Tulloch Homes chairman David Sutherland said:"We have been keen to accelerate affordable new builds and have liaised closely with Highland Council, who share that goal. We will continue to roll out affordable projects wherever we can find them.
"The site at North Kessock is a particularly attractive one in an amenity village where there is strong demand, both for affordable and for the wider residential development we will look to undertake there."
