Local Information

Balgeddie Park is located in Glenrothes, between Markinch and Leslie, in the Kingdom of Fife, an area rich in history.

Built on the site of the former riding school which inspired its name, the development is set close to the Balgeddie House and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Balgeddie Park is ideally located 30 miles between equidistant Dundee to the north and Edinburgh to the south.

As well as being close to Perth, perfect for commutes to the major cities, the Balgeddie locality offers excellent local shopping, fine dining and schools in the nearby town centre. Leisure facilities are right on the doorstep at Fountain Spa Leisure Club featuring a 17 metre pool and gym.

Further afield, yet within easy reach, St Andrews and picturesque, historic fishing villages dot the attractive coastline, offering plenty of potential for day trips and excursions.

Transport

The A92 is handy for travel within Fife and the M90 and Forth Road Bridge provides links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond.

Train Stations are located in Markinch three miles away and Thornton five miles away.

There are regular buses, with a stop at Balgeddie Way.

Education

Local schools include Collydean Primary School, which is located only half a mile away from Balgeddie and includes a nursery.

There are three secondary schools in the vicinity including Glenwood High, Glenrothes High and Auchmuty High, all approximately two to three miles away.

Further education is available at nearby Fife College, three miles away, where the Stenton Campus offers a range of courses, including engineering, construction and science.

Health

Balgeddie Park is conveniently situated for Glenrothes Hospital just over a mile away.

Glenrothes Hospital provides a wide range of services including; speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics, district nurses, health visitors, podiatry, hospital pharmacy and x-ray services.

An accident and emergency department is located at the Victoria Hospital, Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy, some eight miles away.

In addition, there are several health centres, doctors' surgeries and dental practices in the local area.

Leisure

The nearest leisure facilities are at Balgeddie House Hotel, neighbouring Balgeddie Park, which offers Fountain Spa Leisure Club featuring a 17 metre pool, gym and sauna and steam room.

Meanwhile, Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre, three miles away, has an international sized swimming pool, squash courts, eight court sports hall, grass and synthetic turf pitches, athletics track, fitness suite, sauna, stream room, indoor football facility and a junior class timetable.

For golfers, there are various courses locally, at Leslie Golf Club, Glenrothes Golf Club and Balbirnie Golf Club.

Balgeddie is also well placed near parks and woodland walks.

Riverside Park was created in the grounds of the stately home, Leslie House. It features activities for all the family including woodland walks, floral gardens, pond, arboretum, play areas, sculptures, fitness equipment, cricket pitch, football pitch and skateboard facilities.

Balbirnie Park in nearby Markinch consists of 46 acres of woodland and parkland including picnic areas, paths and a wildlife area.

Meanwhile, just six miles is the beautiful Lomond Hills Regional Park, Scotland’s first regional park offering moorland, lochs and farmland.

At the foot of the Lomond Hills is the pretty village of Falkland which features Falkland Palace.

There are plenty of other amenities including the Kino Cinema and Rothes Halls Theatre in the town centre.

Restaurants and Bars

There is a great range of restaurants and bars in the Glenrothes area that you will never be spoilt for choice. Nearby Balgeddie House Hotel features a restaurant/brasserie and cocktail bar.

Shopping

Kingdom Shopping Centre at Lion Way two miles away, offers a mix of smaller independent shops, along with High Street names, including jewellers, bakers, butcher, coffee shops, travel agents, building societies and banks.

Retail names include New Look, Boots, Sports Direct, Superdrug, Holland & Barratt, Argos, Clarks and Sports Direct.

Open seven days a week, the centre regularly runs activities including free soft play events.
