Fairview Meadows is in the Slackbuie area of Inverness, located just off the Southern Distributor Road.

Distance to Inverness City Centre: 3 miles

Air: Inverness Airport (11 miles)

Rail: Inverness Railway Station (4 miles). Services run to Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Aberdeen, Thurso, Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh. Inverness is also connected to London by the Caledonian Sleeper.

Bus: Stagecoach runs a regular bus service to and from Inverness City Centre. Buses from Inverness Bus Station run to destinations further afield in Scotland and England.


Primary: Cauldeen Primary School, Inverness.

There are several other primary schools in the area attended by pupils from Slackbuie. These include Holm Primary, Lochardil Primary, Bun-sgoil Ghaidhlig Inbhir Nis
(Inverness Gaelic School), Inshes Primary and Hilton Primary.

Secondary: Inverness Royal Academy - a new purpose-built academy.

Further Education: Inverness College, part of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), located at Beechwood, Inverness.


A range of doctors’ surgeries are available in Inverness.

Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, is 2 miles away.


Eden Court Theatre

There are a range of gyms, sports centres and swimming pools in Inverness, including Bannatynes at Inshes Retail Park, Everlast Fitness Club at Inverness Retail Park and Inverness Leisure and Aquadome, the largest leisure facility in the Highlands, at Bught Park. The centre includes swimming pools and flumes, a running track, gym and studio, fitness classes, climbing wall and health suite.

A gym and leisure complex in Inverness Royal Academy is located close to Fairview Meadows. Both Inverness Leisure and Inverness Royal Academy participate in the discounted sports High Life scheme.

Golf is available at nearby Fairways Golf Course at Castle Heather, Inverness; and other courses are available at Inverness Golf Club at Culcabock Road, Inverness; Castle Stuart Golf Links and Kings Golf Club at Torvean, Inverness.

Fishing is available on the River Ness.

Skiing on the Cairngorms and other outdoor pursuits are available at Aviemore, only 30 minutes’ drive from Inverness.

The main theatre in Inverness is Eden Court Theatre, a large theatre, cinema and arts venue close to the banks of the River Ness.

Vue Inverness, a seven-screen cinema, is based at Inverness Retail Park.


Attractions and areas of interest in the Inverness area include Fort George, a working fort in Ardersier, Culloden Battlefield, the world famous Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle in Drumnadrochit, Inverness Castle, Clava Cairns, Dolphin Cruises on the Moray Firth, St Andrew’s Cathedral, Culloden Moor, Cawdor Castle, The River Ness and Islands and the Caledonian Canal.

Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord and the Black Isle Brewery in Munlochy are two attractions based in the Black Isle. Both are open for visitors to tour.

Dolphin watching is popular at nearby North Kessock and at Chanonry Point, Fortrose.


A large 24-hour Asda superstore with adjoining opticians and a popular children’s indoor soft play centre neighbours Fairview Meadows. There is also a large Tesco store at Ness Side on Dores Road.

A short drive away is Inshes Retail Park, which features a variety of retailers including a 24-hour Tesco superstore, Dobbies garden centre, Matalan, Deichmann Shoes, Dunelm, B&M and Hobby Craft.

Inverness Retail Park (4 miles away) has a range of further big retail names including Next, The Range, Argos, Boots, Superdrug and River Island.

Inverness City Centre is the nearest shopping centre, offering a range of outlets from big name retailers in the Eastgate Centre to smaller independently run stores in the High Street and Victorian Market.
