Local Information

The metropolitan delights of Glasgow are only about eight miles from East Kilbride.

Within a short drive of your new Tulloch home you can take advantage of all the city has to offer, including: concerts and big events at the SECC; the collection of masterpieces at the magnificently restored Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum; all kinds of musical and dramatic entertainment at the city’s concert halls and theatres; and, of course, a vast range of sporting attractions.

But there are other pleasures to be enjoyed even closer to home…

In the 1930s East Kilbride was a small village of about 900 people. Today there are still traces of the old village, but the town is now a vibrant community, and its famous shopping centre draws visitors from across central Scotland.

Since 1990, The Village Project has worked to improve and restore the unique historic conservation area – including the beautiful cobbled street, The Village Theatre, and the Old Parish Church, which dates from 1775. The Village was East Kilbride’s original shopping centre, and is now an attractive destination for shoppers seeking a wide variety of small, traditional specialty shops and services mixed with a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs.

As well as the unique boutiques available at The Village within minutes’ walk of the development, East Kilbride is also home to Scotland's largest undercover shopping and leisure facility featuring over 200 retail, leisure and catering outlets.

Meanwhile, The East Kilbride Arts Centre is a popular venue for drama, visual arts, music, comedy and film, as well as arts courses and children’s activities.

Calderglen Country park is a four-star tourist attraction, with a conservatory, ornamental gardens, children’s zoo and nature trails. The town’s attractions also include golf courses, an aqua centre and a multi-screen cinema.

Transport

Getting around on the public transport system is easy from The Village as there are regular buses, and the train station is just a few minutes’ walk from the development.

Situated a short drive from Glasgow, and close to major roads and motorways including the M77, A726, A727 and A749, East Kilbride is superbly located for easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh, south to the Borders and north to the Highlands.
