Tulloch Homes’ £5,000 boost for Culbokie’s Findon Hall

Findon Hall, the community venue for Culbokie, is to be upgraded with the help of a £5,000 donation from Tulloch Homes.

Sheila Robinson, chair of the hall management committee, revealed the hall is an extremely busy focal point for a range of local activities and is increasingly important to a growing village.

She said: “It is home to a baby and toddler group and a community market, plus sports such as badminton and carpet bowls and classes including pilates and martial arts.

“We have, however, now reached the stage where the floor badly needs sanding and sealing as it is around 25 years since any major refurbishment to the surface.

“Tulloch’s extremely kind donation now allows us to start securing prices for the job so that we can plan our way forward to ensure an enhanced and upgraded floor is in place next year.”

Jim Crawford, site manager of Tulloch Homes’ successful Glascairn Meadows development in the village, said: ”When we were approached, we were more than happy to set the ball rolling with £5,000.

“The hall committee does a really outstanding job and we’re pleased to be able to assist such a worthwhile project. It’s good to put something back in to the community in this way.”

Barbara Gray, management committee treasurer, said: ”With a limited bus service, if the community didn’t have Findon Hall, there would be little to do as far as organised indoor activity is concerned.

“During lockdown last year, we took the opportunity to re-roof the hall and the floor is our current major project. We were thrilled at Tulloch’s generosity, which allows us to get cracking on a solution.”

Hazel Bell, Tulloch Homes sales consultant, who lives in Culbokie, said: ”It’s excellent that the hard-working hall committee is receiving such a boost to its plans.”

Findon Hall was built in 1974, on the site of a previous hall. It is also busy with rehearsals for the community’s seventh annual pantomime, ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves’, running from December 9 to 11.
