Michael had a feeling about Fairview Meadows

Fairview Meadows, Inverness

Plot 226 Michael Martin

When Michael was looking for his new house, he knew he found it from the moment he walked through the door.

I’d been in my old flat in Inverness for around 5 years and was needing a bit more space and really loved the thought of a garden.

I hadn’t set my mind on a new build, I was just looking for something within budget, in a nice area, with 2 bedrooms and some outdoor space to enjoy the elusive Scottish summer. I was looking for somewhere that I could see myself in years to come, maybe with a dog, and somewhere that I could start a family one day. I wanted somewhere that would feel like home.

I’d looked at other new build developments in the area, but I knew the second I arrived at Fairview Meadows I’d found what I was looking for. The development was spacious and inviting. The houses are modern, and I walked past young families with kids on the street. It was clear it would have a great community for years to come.

It sounds really cringy, but when Moira and Susan took me around the house that I’ve since bought, I knew it was home. It’s a three-bedroom Torrin, which is bigger than I was initially looking for, but it meant I had space to grow in the home. It’s bright and open, there are lots of windows, something my friends have all commented on when they’ve visited, and the all-important garden was perfect.

This was really a lovely home in a lovely development. I could see myself here for a long time. I work 5-10 minutes around the corner, I could picture getting a dog eventually, potentially having kids – the things you consider when you’re looking to move. This house is ready for that. It’s future proofed.

It's clear that it’s a high-quality home, especially in terms of the energy efficiency. In my old property, I had the heating on constantly. In my new home, I’ve barley had the heating on, and when I do, it’s just for a quick burst. It’s clear that quality insulation has been used as the house retains the heat so well.

Tulloch is renowned in the area as a good housebuilder, but for me, it’s the little things that really make them stand out. When I was moving in, I scuffed one the walls with some furniture leaving a mark but the site manager, Scott, popped over with some paint to touch it up. Small acts like this make such a difference. It’s inevitable with a new build to have a few minor snags, but the quick and efficient way Tulloch have handled them is what counts.

The kitchen is up there with one of my favourite rooms in the house. It’s an Ashley Ann kitchen and you can tell it’s all really great quality. It has two large cupboards for the hoover and the mop and things, plenty of space for everything I need.

I’m so delighted I made the decision to buy at Fairview Meadows. The Torrin is far better than I thought I could get. The quality is fantastic, and I’ve space to grow into it in the future. It’s cracking. There are plenty of nice houses out there, but this house really feels like home.
