Former footballers Lewis Mackinnon and Zander Sutherland are Hat-Trick Heroes after the Tulloch Homes site managers each gained their third National House Builders Council award.
Despite their unique trebles, this is the first time the Inverness pair have scooped Pride in the Job awards in the same year.
Lewis is site manager at The Maples at Ness Side, Inverness, where he also won last year, having gained his 2016 award for The Parks, Inverness.
Zander’s latest win is for Leys Green at Milton of Leys, Inverness, having won in 2018 and 2019 for Broomhill, Muir of Ord, also gaining an NHBC Seal of Excellence in 2018.
The duo played together at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Brora Rangers and Buckie Thistle, winning two successive Highland League titles with the latter. Zander is now retired but Lewis is centre half and assistant manager at Buckie.
Tulloch Homes construction director Billy McKay said: "To land two top awards in the same year is outstanding and shows the quality and commitment of Lewis and Zander and the teams around them.
"Completing a double hat-trick is a considerable achievement and a real honour, given the stringent examinations conducted by NHBC inspectors."
Lewis, who has been site manager at The Maples for the last two years and has worked at Tulloch Homes for 12 years, said: "The Maples is a prestige site, and to win this award for the second successive time is a terrific boost.
"It shows our team at the development has maintained its high standards and I couldn’t have done it without them.”
Zander, who has worked for Tulloch Homes for six years, also paid tribute to his team.
He said: "To win for my first year at Milton of Leys is a welcome accolade. I’m fortunate in the level of craftsmanship we have on site – it’s a young team but they’ve stepped up to the mark.”
Pride in the Job, first launched over forty years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry. Judging for the Awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July 2020 and each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
Pride in the Job is at the heart of NHBC’s core purpose to support the delivery of high-quality new homes. By recognising the very best site managers across the UK, the competition celebrates the vital role that site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards.
