Downsizing to Drummond Hill

Drummond Hill, Inverness

Alisa and Bobby

Ailsa and Bobby decided to sell their family home of 32 years and move to something  smaller and more manageable to maintain, just around the corner, at Tulloch Homes prestigious Drummond Hill apartments.

Our family home was too large for just the two of us and, as it was an older property, it was very difficult to heat and a lot of work to maintain. We wanted to stay in the area as it is near to the city centre and our family and friends live close by.

Initially we hadn’t considered a new build, until this development came on the market which was in the right location. We looked at a few older apartments and houses, but they all needed work and we didn’t want the upheaval of renovation. We wanted something easy and simple to manage, that was still quite spacious, with outdoor space. Dining lounge 2

We were already familiar with Tulloch Homes and had walked past their Drummond Hill development regularly as it is close to our old home. The footprint of the apartment was ample for open plan living, the size is probably comparable to a small bungalow. We liked the open plan aspect and the two bay windows make such a difference – it is south facing so it’s very light and bright.

The home was different to anything else we had seen, and Tulloch added little details like the glass panels in the staircase in the communal hall and the pictures of colourful landscapes on each floor which is a nice, welcoming touch. There is a lift in the building, but we decided to go for the ground floor as it has a small garden with terraced outdoor space.Lounge

We could put our own touches on it too without the work. We opted for a neutral colour palate. We chose a pale grey kitchen with white worktops and bronze and grey breakfast bar. Our old home had a  bright colourful kitchen so went for something completely different. There was a good choice, for all the finishings and it was an enjoyable process choosing. We kept to a similar colour scheme in the bathroom and en-suite and with a bit of a sparkle in the floor covering.

We’ve noticed a difference with the energy efficiency already. It is certainly warm and the heating is simple to control and very responsive too through the app on your phone. Kitchen dining

We didn’t realise how much we had accumulated over the years, until we started clearing out our house and double garage. It was a good opportunity to get rid of things we no longer used or needed, it was a challenge, but we found the process quite cathartic. There is ample storage throughout the apartment. We have three large hall cupboards, and built in wardrobes in the two bedrooms.

You can see the potential of this development with lots of old established trees and some of the landscaping has now been completed.  It’ll be interesting to see how the site develops and how the other properties will look once it’s finished – especially the mansion house. The sales and site staff we have dealt with have all been excellent, very helpful before and after our move.

We’re very happy in our new Tulloch home.
