A home away from home

Bynack More, Aviemore

Sheena and Andy had been looking for a holiday home for years. By chance they stumbled upon Bynack More in Aviemore, and they knew they’d found what they had been looking for.

We’ve always loved Aviemore and have been coming here with the kids, Eva and Alex, and the dog, Dave, for over 16 years. It’s a friendly place, we know the area really well and love being here.  It’s under 2 hours’ drive for us, so close enough that we can pop up at the weekend, but it feels like a different world when we’re here. We drive around the corner and see the hills and it’s just great.

We had been looking for a holiday home on and off here for some time, but the competition was fierce and the ones we had seen weren’t quite right. They were either larger houses, which we couldn’t justify for a holiday home, or apartments that needed lots of maintenance which we were keen to avoid.

The Tulloch apartments in Aviemore were perfect. The development is in the centre of Aviemore so it’s a great location. The kids can go quad biking or skating and it’s easy to go for a wander through the town. The views really stood out to us too. We have views of trees and hills from each window in the flat which is really pretty – especially when there is snow on the hills.

We loved the apartment from the moment we walked in. It had its own private entrance, with good sized rooms and solar panels so it’s more environmentally friendly. The home heats up quickly and retains the heat too because of the thick insulation, so we find we don’t need to keep it on for long.

Storage can be a challenge in apartments, but there is so much here. Each of the bedrooms have built in storage. The wardrobe in the main bedroom backs onto the staircase so they’ve extended the wardrobe to make use of a space giving us a bonus bit at the back which is great for things like the Christmas decorations. It’s little things like that where they have utilised something that would have been dead space, that you don’t get anywhere else and makes such a difference. There is storage outside too which is ideal for the bikes.

We love the open plan kitchen lounge. We have a big corner sofa that we can all fit on and we’ve added a tv to the wall, so after a day of exploring we can snuggle up on the sofa and watch a film as a family.

The staff were amazing too – it was a very quick process for us as it was a second home, and Carole was on the ball. We’ve not had much interaction with the site team, but they were very accommodating for us when we moved in.

It's everything we were looking for. A low maintenance home away from home, with the flexibility to come and go when we please, where we can relax and decompress.
